Mental Health Awareness Month

 In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, we are spotlighting our current staff who support employee and student wellness.    

Susan Gayle has been working with Caroline County Public Schools since 1984, first as a volunteer and then as a substitute school teacher.

Susan has been the Parent Teacher Resource Coordinator since 1994.  She has provided professional development workshops on a variety of topics relating to Special Education to faculty and families. Susan is currently the Certified Mandt Crisis Prevention trainer and has been since 2006,

Since 2014, Susan received Basic Mediation Training, is the Certified LEAP trainer for VCU-Partnership for People with Disabilities, Mental Health First Aid, ASIST Suicide, Suicide Alertness, Parents as Collaborative Leaders-Basic and Advanced. Since 2015- Certified Trainer for Ruby Payne-Getting Ahead in a Just Getting by World, Bridges Out of Poverty.  Since 2017- Career Counselor-DARS-Section 511 Trainer for VCU.

As the Homebound/Homebased Coordinator, she collaborates with faculty, staff, and families to enhance teaching and learning, provide support and promote shared resources and services.Susan has served in many leadership roles: consultant to the Special Education Advisory Committee since 2002, Chairperson for the Family Fair Planning Team and the Fredericksburg Area Council on Transition (FACT).  

Susan is glad to be a “listening ear” for families and staff.
