Mental Health Awareness Month

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, we are spotlighting our current staff who support employee and student wellness.

Valeta Dixon, School Social Worker

My name is Valeta Dixon and I am a School Social Worker. I graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work and Psychology and earned my Master of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. I have worked in Caroline County for over twenty years and currently serve Lewis and Clark Elementary, Madison Elementary and Caroline High School as part of their support staff. My main responsibilities include: helping support the academic, behavioral, social/emotional needs of students through general education or special education avenues as part of the child study, eligibility and IEP teams within each school, meeting with families to complete Sociocultural Assessments and obtaining adaptive behavior information and identifying and linking students and families for community-based services to help provide support.

This is what I do, and I appreciate what you do!  #OneCaroline
